Quote of the Day (David Tang, on Tattoos)

“All I would say about tattoos is that they often make beautiful people more beautiful, and edgier, but that they always make ugly people uglier and less edgy. On the whole I dread tattoos because, being more or less eternally corpulent, I would live in constant fear of seeing my skin yo-yo across the contours of any tattoos I might have if I ever succeeded in going on a diet. Besides, I am never sure what a collection of tattoos really signals. Perhaps defiance or unorthodoxy? But aren’t both of these contrived?” —David Tang, “The Day Kate Moss and I Got Tattooed,” The Financial Times, Dec. 12-13, 2015
